Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about document submission, verification, and the claims process.
If you received a letter stating you have unclaimed assets, verify its authenticity by visiting our portal and entering the Asset ID listed on the letter. If the portal displays your personal information, the letter is legitimate and indicates you have unclaimed funds available. If the portal does not recognize the Asset ID or shows different information, discard the letter as it was not sent by ClaimNotify.
Legitimate ClaimNotify emails are sent only from @claimnotify.org addresses. Verify the sender's email domain before taking any action. Be aware that fraudulent parties may attempt to imitate ClaimNotify communications. If you receive an email from any other domain claiming to be ClaimNotify, do not respond and delete the message.
Required documentation varies by claim type and state jurisdiction. You will receive specific document requirements with your claim notification. Commonly required items include government-issued identification, proof of address, and claim-specific forms with notarized signatures where applicable.
Processing times vary by state agency, typically ranging from 3 to 12 months after submission. Florida processes claims in approximately 3 months, while California and other states may require 6-12 months. Processing times depend on state workload and claim complexity.
You will receive status updates via the contact method provided in your submission. State agencies issue payment directly to approved claimants. ClaimNotify does not process payments but will notify you of any required additional documentation or claim status changes.
If your submission is rejected, you will receive notification explaining the specific deficiencies. You may resubmit with corrected documentation. Common rejection reasons include incomplete forms, missing signatures, or insufficient identification documentation.
There is no deadline for filing unclaimed asset claims. Funds will remain dormant with the state indefinitely until claimed. You may submit your claim at any time without risk of forfeiture.
If you don't recognize the reported address, this may indicate: (1) the claim was mistakenly sent to you and belongs to someone else, (2) the reporting company made an error during escheatment, or (3) the claim belongs to a family member with the same name. If other claim details appear accurate, you may still file. If the claim belongs to a family member, forward the information to the appropriate party.
To remove yourself from correspondence about a specific claim, visit our website and enter the Asset ID listed on all ClaimNotify correspondence. You will be removed from communications regarding that particular claim.
Your documents are reviewed for completeness and forwarded to the appropriate state agency for processing. You will receive confirmation of successful submission. The state agency will review your claim and issue payment directly to you if approved.
